Single-day travel layovers in Hong Kong on Sunday November 17th and Saturday the 30th. The 17th was a day of student protester standoffs at PolyU, as well as the day that PLA soldiers garrisoned near Kowloon cleared a street of bricks. Most of the city was calm, though there was a standoff with tear gas on Nathan Road in the afternoon. The 30th was a couple days after district council elections went overwhelmingly in favor of pro-democracy candidates. The city was very calm; large-scale peaceful protests started again the following day.
